October at Padure Manor brought sunny, warm days that set a beautiful backdrop for a month filled with diverse and unforgettable events. Early in the month, we welcomed 56 teachers and students from the Liepāja School of Music, Art, and Design, who came to celebrate Teacher’s Day. They enjoyed a guided tour, a delicious meal, and a concert, creating a memorable cultural experience highlighting art and history.
Following this, we hosted an intimate book launch for the writer Žigis, attended by 15 guests who gathered to celebrate his work in the cozy atmosphere of Padure Manor. The celebrations continued with a birthday gathering, where friends chose the manor as their venue, creating a warm, festive atmosphere.
From October 11th to 13th, Padure Manor became a serene sanctuary for a women’s autumn retreat led by Simona Tīcmane. The retreat offered participants relaxation and renewal through massages, astrology, sound therapy, and nourishing meals – a complete experience in restoring inner harmony.
The festivities didn’t end there. On October 18th, we hosted a small family wedding, and on the 19th, guests with a Padure Manor gift card visited us. Rather than spending their time leisurely, they generously offered their hands to help with restoration tasks, embodying the spirit of community support and care.
On October 20th, three enthusiastic volunteers from the U.S. arrived through the Workaway platform. Besides helping with firewood and window preparations for winter, they assisted in organizing for our upcoming Legend Night. In their spare time, they ventured into nearby forests to experience the local culture by mushroom picking, discovering a piece of Latvia’s nature and traditions.
The week also brought us the artist Laura Buholte and her dog Rūsiņš. Laura stayed with us for the entire week, enjoying a creative retreat as she prepared her upcoming artwork, which we plan to showcase in an exhibition at the manor next spring.
The highlight of October was Legend Night – an interactive evening where guests solved the mystery of Alfon Balfour’s murder, a case dating back to 1920. With 38 participants in the game and nearly 100 attendees in total, the night was a huge success. A big thank you to our event team – Naira Lācīte, Alise Volanska, Linda Nelima Bunga, and Aleksis Burkovskis – for bringing this unforgettable experience to life!
Finally, the month concluded with a visit from the youth of the Riga Children, Youth, and Family Support Center. This was their third visit to Padure Manor, and they not only enjoyed their stay but also contributed to cleaning and maintenance tasks, fostering a deeper understanding of cultural heritage.
