April at Padure Manor: Work, Celebration, and Connection

April at Padure Manor was vibrant and active – full of practical work, guided tours, celebrations, and the Big Cleanup Day, which brought together our co-owners and friends from all over Latvia.
At the beginning of the month, we continued with maintenance tasks – we completely cleared the attic floor in the future bathroom area. It was both challenging and exciting to figure out how to run water and sewage pipes upstairs while preserving the architectural logic of the building. At times there were difficulties, but also discoveries that deepened our understanding of the manor’s structure.

On 12–13 April, we held two tours and an exceptional event: The Manor Festive Dinner with Katrīna Krieviņa, a two-day masterclass. Padure Manor transformed into a true celebration of flavours, aesthetics, and emotions. Under Katrīna’s guidance, participants not only learned new skills but immersed themselves in a mindful, elegant and rich manor lifestyle.
It began with a guided tour where Katrīna shared stories of architecture and restoration, giving meaning to the idea that true celebration is not fast enjoyment, but slow and beautiful co-creation.
The table setting workshop was one highlight – using modest materials, Katrīna taught how to create a festive mood with coordinated dishes, cloth napkins, wildflowers, and attention to detail. Then followed the preparation of a festive dinner:

🐚 Seafood Cioppino – warm, aromatic, and rich
🦆 Stuffed duck – classic with a noble twist
🌱 Asparagus risotto – creamy and elegant
🍰 Biscuit roulade – a warm recipe from Katrīna’s grandmother

Guests dressed elegantly to honour the food and themselves. The candlelight, silence, and conversations created a timeless atmosphere.
The event ended with a symbolic rune candle-making workshop – a creative and therapeutic ritual to take home.
This wasn’t just about skills – it was a meeting with yourself, others, and the manor. Katrīna Krieviņa, as always, offered not just knowledge, but a deep and beautiful experience.

Later in April, we welcomed more tour groups – including seniors from Zlēkas and travellers from Talsi and Tukums brought by Inese Roze.
But the central event of the month was The Big Cleanup – the heart of our community. 18 co-owners – whom we call co-manor lords – gathered, each bringing their story and energy.
We cleaned the flowerbeds and park, chopped firewood, and let fresh spring air into the manor. Afterwards, we shared a delicious meal – as befits a manor. Each co-owner received a named share certificate and a keychain as a symbol of belonging to the Padure Manor community.

Padure Manor grows with every person who enters it – and in April, you were many. Thank you!
